Since making their live debut in 2022, Country Risqué has become something of a San Francisco queer country institution. Singer-songwriters Miles Gordon and Daniel Bromfield first met in Eugene, Oregon nearly a decade before forming the band, and after passing around songwriting ideas during the pandemic, they reconvened in San Francisco and formed a honky-tonk band centered around the coffee-and-chocolate contrast of Gordon’s rich, formally trained vocals and Bromfield’s languid deadpan. As the band has developed, its sound has progressed from a classic ‘50s-influenced country style to a rougher and more electrified sound inspired by alt-country, heartland rock and the rugged landscapes of the Pacific Northwest.
Country Risqué has had the privilege of sharing the stage with Lilly Hiatt, Paisley Fields, Ty Walker and the Humanoids, Secret Emchy Society, and countless other country and many other Americana luminaries. It currently features Richard Moog on lead guitar, Chris Kenyon on drums, and Sarah Parker on bass.
